Nagoya Women’s Marathon Course
(Start and finish at VANTELIN DOME NAGOYA. JAAF and WA/AIMS certified course)
*Records for 15 km, 20 km, Half-Marathon, 25 km, 30 km, and Marathon shall be certified, provided that the athlete completes the entire race.

*Additionally, an administrative fee of 950 JPY will be charged.
*The entry fee must be paid by cash at the First Roll-Call. Credit cards are not accepted.
*The entry fee is not refundable regardless of the reason.

Eligibility

(1)	Female athletes who meet the following conditions (i) and (ii).
　(i) FY2022 JAAF-registered athletes who are 19 years of age or older on race day.
　(ii) Athletes who have achieved one of the following records as JAAF-registered athletes at a certified competition in or outside Japan on or after March 1, 2021, and before the application deadline.

(2)	Athletes recommended by the JAAF.
(3)	Foreign- or Japan-based athletes invited by the JAAF.

Regulation

The race will be conducted in accordance with the 2022-2023 World Athletics (WA) Rules and Regulations and the FY2022 Rules and Regulations of the JAAF and the Nagoya Women’s Marathon. In addition, the WA Road Race Label Regulations and the WA Advertising Regulations will apply to this race as it is a WA Label road race. Anti-doping tests will be conducted according to the WA Regulations.

Awards

Awards will be presented to the top eight finishers, and New Face Award will be given to a new Japanese athlete with outstanding performance.

Doping Control

(1) This competition is subject to doping control in accordance with the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules and Regulations or Japan Anti-Doping Code. At the pre- or post-competition anti-doping test, urine and/or blood sample will be taken. Athletes subject to testing must follow the instructions and take the test.

(2) TUE Application
Athletes who are required to take medications in the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods to treat their illness or condition must submit an application for Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). For more information, visit the website of the JAAF Medical Committee (https://www.jaaf.or.jp/about/resist/medical/) or the Japan Anti-Doping Agency (https://www.playtruejapan.org/).

(3) Athletes should bring a clear photocopy of their passport to the competition as they will be required to present a photo ID when subject to testing.

(4) By submitting an entry application to this competition, all participating athletes will be deemed to have agreed to become subject to the doping control procedures in accordance with the Japan Anti-Doping Code.

(5) Refusing or evading anti-doping testing conducted at this competition (regardless of the type of samples, such as urine or blood), failing to comply with instructions of the doping control staff, or failing to complete the testing process due to personal reasons such as travel schedule may constitute a violation of the anti-doping rules. Note that athletes shall receive a sanction in accordance with the Anti-Doping Code when found to have committed an anti-doping rule violation.

(6) Note that athletes who are subject to blood testing, whether in or out of competition, will be required to rest for two hours after the competition/exercise for blood sampling.

Personal Information

In recognition of the importance of protecting personal information, the Organizers will comply with the act on the protection of personal information and related laws and regulations and handle personal information in accordance with the personal information protection policy of the Organizers. The Organizers will use personal information for participation guidance, notification of records and related information, provision of service from event sponsors, supporters, and concerned organizations, publication of results (rankings), etc., to deliver better service to participants. Within the scope of the management of this event, personal information may be provided to related business entities, including World Marathon Majors LLC, the organizer of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, located in the United States of America. The Organizers or their contractors may contact applicants to confirm their application details.

Precautions

(1) Athletes shall comply with the WA Advertising Regulations regarding the size of trademarks on their clothing and items they bring onto the competition site (including the warm-up area).

(2) Athletes who wish to have their own special drinks during the competition and state so by placing a checkmark on their Entry Form may check-in their drinks at VANTELIN DOME NAGOYA from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 12. All special drinks must be checked in within this time frame, and late submissions will not be accepted.

(3) Athletes will be required to arrange their own accommodation. The Administrative Office will not provide accommodation arrangements.

(4) Number bibs and commemorative goods for participation will only be distributed at the First Roll-Call site, and no individual service such as mailing will be provided, even when the athlete withdraws from the competition.

(5) Athletes who have already been registered as general participants to the race and paid the entry fee, but wish to change their status and compete as elite athletes must fill out the Entry Form and send it to the designated application email address. Make sure to circle “Yes” on the question “Have you already entered as a general runner for this marathon?” on the form. Such athletes do not need to pay the entry fee again.

Miscellaneous

(1) All finishers will receive a finisher’s T-shirt and an exclusively designed pendant (made by Tiffany & Co.) along with other commemorative items. The size chart of the finisher’s T-shirt is as below. Athletes will be asked to choose their preferred size at the time of race application and may not change the size later.

(2) Entry fees are not refundable except when the race is canceled for reasons specified in the Terms of Application.

(3) All participants must give full consideration to their physical conditions and make thorough preparations for race participation, including sufficient training and a medical check-up prior to race day.

(4) No designs, logos, or trademarks representing corporate or product names may be worn or displayed for advertising purposes at the event site (including the race course). Making assertions or advertising with banners, signs, etc., is prohibited.

(5) Photographs, etc., may be sold on consignment with the approval of the Organizers.

(6) This race is a qualifying race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Rankings.

(7) In addition to the above, follow instructions given by the Organizers with respect to any matters regarding the event.

Terms of Application

All applicants must agree to the following Terms of Application before applying for this race.

*Please be sure to read through the “[IMPORTANT] INFECTION COUNTERMEASURES AGAINST COVID-19” section in these guidelines.

(1) Applicants must understand and agree to these Application Guidelines before applying for this race. No changes to events (race distance), cancellations, or refunds of entry fees for personal reasons shall be accepted after application.

(2) Duplicate applications by the same person are not permitted.

(3) Simultaneous participation in the Nagoya City Marathon is not permitted.

(4) False declarations of age, gender, records, etc., or participation of unregistered persons in place of the registered applicants (foul participation) are prohibited. Any individual or group discovered to have committed foul participation will not only be disqualified but may also be banned from entries to future editions of this race.

(5) No substitute participation or transfers of entry rights are allowed at this race. Any applicant who is discovered to have committed such an act will be disqualified, and the Organizers will not provide any compensation.

(6) In the event that falls within the above (2), (3), (4), or (5), the entry fee will not be refunded after application.

(7) The information provided at the time of application may not be amended, altered, or cancelled after submission. If there is a problem with the registered information, the Administrative Office will contact the applicant by email or phone.

(8) Phone inquiries to the Runner Call Center or the Administrative Office regarding the application status are not accepted.

(9) The Organizers will not be responsible for any delays in application attributable to Internet connection problems, etc.

(10) Failure to pay the entry fee by the designated date will result in automatic cancellation and ineligibility to participate in the race.

(11) In the event of cancellation due to an impassable race course caused by snow accumulation, rising water due to heavy rain, damage to buildings due to strong winds, lightning strikes, tornadoes, or fires in buildings near the course, or an earthquake in Japan, only the entry fee will be refunded. No refunds will be made in the event of any other cancellation or reduction to the scale of the race. In the event that the race is switched to the Online Marathon, the measures to be taken shall be as described in (3) under the “[IMPORTANT] INFECTION COUNTERMEASURES AGAINST COVID-19” section in these guidelines.

(12) The Organizers will not be responsible for any late arrivals to the event or necessary registration procedures due to delays in public transportation or traffic conditions.

(13) The Organizers reserve the portrait rights and the rights to publish videos, photographs, articles, records, and location information during the event and applicants’ names, ages, birth dates, addresses (country, prefecture, or city/town/village), etc. on TV, newspapers, magazines, and websites.

(14) In case of injury or illness of a participating runner during the event, the Organizers will provide first aid to the runner and, if necessary, arrange emergency transportation. In such cases, the Organizers will provide the runner’s name, address, contact information, medical history, etc., to the medical institution and emergency responders. All participants shall be deemed to have agreed that the Organizers will request the hospital to which the participant has been transported to disclose her medical information.

(15) The Organizers will not be liable for any injury, illness, loss of personal belongings, or accident during the event in any way beyond the administration of emergency first-aid relief unless such is caused by the Organizers’ intentional act or gross negligence. However, in case of slight negligence of the Organizers, the Organizers will be liable up to the insured amount.

(16) The Organizers will handle the personal information of participants in compliance with the laws and regulations for the protection of personal information. Participants shall agree in advance that the Organizers will use such information to provide participation information, notify records and related information, provide services from event sponsors, supporters, and relevant organizations, and announce the results (rankings), etc., for the purpose of improving the quality of services to participants.

(17) This event shall be conducted in compliance with all relevant laws of Japan.

(18) In addition to the above Terms of Application, this event will be conducted in accordance with the race instructions set forth separately by the Organizers.

Pledge

(1) I meet the eligibility requirements (a female athlete who is 19 years of age or older on race day) to participate in this competition.

(2) I have no health problems. I will train well in advance and participate in the competition in good condition. If I feel any health problems before or during the competition, I will immediately stop competing.

(3) When deemed necessary by the Organizers during or after the competition, I agree to receive first-aid and medical treatment and to be transported by ambulance to a medical institution.

(4) When I am transported to a medical institution, I agree that my personal information, such as my name, address, and contact information, will be provided by the Organizers to the medical institution and emergency responders. I also agree that the medical institution will provide the Organizers with my personal information, including the progress of my treatment.

(5) I will not make any claim against the Organizers for compensation for any damage caused by accident during the event unless such is caused by the Organizers’ intentional act or gross negligence.

(6) I acknowledge that compensation to me for any damage caused by accident during the event will be made within the limits of the insurance purchased by the Organizers.

(7) I will not put any valuables or other items specified by the Organizers in the baggage that I check in and leave with the Organizers during the race. Even in the event that such valuables or other checked items are lost or damaged, I will not make any claim for compensation for them to the Organizers.

(8) I will neither run for any other runner nor have another person run on my behalf. I will release the Organizers from any and all responsibility, even if a substitute runner is involved in an accident during the race. In the event that a substitution is found, I will follow instructions from the Organizers, including the cancellation of awards.

(9) I will neither transfer my athlete bibs to another person nor duplicate or otherwise forge them. In the unlikely event that I am found to have transferred the bibs to another person, or duplicated or forged them, I and the person who have received the bibs will not object to any punishment that may be imposed, including a ban on future race entries.

(10) I acknowledge that the portrait rights and rights to publish videos, photographs, articles, and records (my name, athlete bib number, age, and date of birth) in TV, newspapers, magazines, websites, etc. will belong to the Organizers.

[IMPORTANT] INFECTION COUNTERMEASURES AGAINST COVID-19

Please read carefully and agree to the following information before applying.

(1) Infection Countermeasures at the Event
The event will consider and implement countermeasures against infectious diseases (submission of health check records, infection testing, temperature checks on race day, etc.) appropriate to the situation, with reference to the precautions against infectious diseases issued by the Japanese government, the Japan Sports Agency, and the Japan Association of Athletics Federations. Participants who do not meet the participation criteria set forth by the event, such as having symptoms of fever, may be denied participation in the race or admission to the event sites. In such cases, the entry fee will not be refunded.

*Specific participation criteria will be announced on the race official website and notified via email to participating runners as soon as determined.

(2) Requirements for Participation
Those who do not follow the infection countermeasures required by the event, such as wearing masks, disinfecting hands, and other behavioral requests, may not be permitted to participate in the event. In such cases, the entry fee will not be refunded.

(3) Switching to Online Marathon
In the event that the race is unable to be held normally due to restrictions imposed by the national or local governments, an online marathon (virtual marathon race) will be held as an alternative event, either for all or part (selected by a draw, etc.) of the participants. In such cases, the entry fee will not be refunded, and the entry right for the next edition of the race will not be granted.

(4) Handling of Personal Information
From the viewpoint of preventing the spread of COVID-19, only when requested by a government agency, personal information may be provided to the requesting agency in an appropriate manner.

(5) Matters Described in These Guidelines
The matters described in these guidelines may be relaxed, added, or otherwise changed depending on the infection status of COVID-19.
